CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) -- A corrections officer and two deputies have been arrested in Camden County after a video was released showing them beating an inmate.
According to a press release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Camden County Corporal Correction Officer Mason Garrick and Camden County Deputies Ryan Biegel and Braxton Massey have been arrested and charged with each one count of battery and one count of violation of oath of public office.
On November 15, the Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office requested the GBI to investigate claims of excessive use of force in the Camden County Jail after a video was released showing jail staff hitting 41-year-old Jarrett Hobbs, who was in their custody at the time.
On September 3rd, Hobbs was arrested and booked into the Camden County Jail where he was placed in an isolation cell. The video shows Garrick, Biegel, and Massey striking Hobbs multiple times. According to the GBI, Hobbs was injured during the assault.
