SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTGS) — A 55-year-old woman was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash on Ogeechee Road late Thursday night, according to Savannah police.
SPD's Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating the crash that left the woman with life-threatening injuries.
Officers responded to Ogeechee Road at Mersy Way at 10:40 p.m. and found the woman suffering from her injuries.
The woman was driving a moped west on Ogeechee Road when she was struck from the side by a Chevy Silverado that was exiting a business, according to a preliminary investigation.
The driver of the Silverado failed to stop after the crash and fled from the scene.
Police described the vehicle as a four-door black or dark gray Silverado. The driver was captured on surveillance footage just before the crash and is described as a tall, slender, young black male with shoulder-length dreads. He was seen wearing a white shirt, jeans and sneakers.
