Savannah, Ga. (WTGS FOX 28) — The Savannah Police Traffic Investigation Unit is on the scene of a fatal vehicle crash which also caused a brush fire, according to a tweet from SPD.
One person is confirmed dead, according to police, in the wreck on New Hampstead Parkway and Little Neck Road in Savannah.
According to police, officers arrived on the scene around 10 a.m. to find the vehicle on fire and the driver next to it, who was deceased with burns.
"The investigation determined that the individual, driving a Ford Fusion, was traveling south on New Hampstead Road and left the roadway, striking a tree and was ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle then caught on fire," according to Savannah Police Department.
The driver was pronounced dead on scene.
