From the football field, to the Olympics - MMA fighter, business owner and much more; Herschel Walker is looking to add another title to his resume.

He’s officially filed to run for a Georgia U.S Senate seat as a Republican.

On Thursday, he visited Savannah, speaking to the students and families at Savannah Christian Preparatory School for a chapel service during their Spiritual Emphasis week.

Being born and raised two hours away from Savannah, Walker shared how his small-town upbringing, work ethic and sacrifice has allowed him to be a successful man in an exclusive interview with FOX28.

You can watch the full interview below.

Walker is working to replace current Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock. Warnock took office after winning in a special election last year, replacing former Republican Sen. Johnny Isakson.

“With everything happening right now, 95% of the time, he’s voted with Biden and you see what’s happening right now. I think the one of the worst things they could’ve, done, was give up that keystone pipeline. That means we’re not energy dependent anymore,” said Walker.

Walker, who has strong ties to the state of Georgia, was diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder due to childhood trauma.

If elected, Walker plans to focus on a number of things, including mental health, providing a better life for Georgia residents and safety.

The crime has gotten way out of hand. Not just here in Savannah, but in many other cities in the state of Georgia. We’re better than that. We have to put the right people in control, to say 'Hey, we need to stop this.' Support our police, support our military and most of all support our citizens.

With two Democratic Senators currently in office, Walker is taking a different approach.

“I'm not a politician. I never dance and sing for no one. I've never done it my whole life. I'm a Christian who believes in the lord Jesus, that gets out and works and I say what I'm going to do, and I do what I'm going to say. I think most politicians come and try to impress you with all these terms, I'm not going to do that."

Other republican candidates running for U.S. Senate include Gary Black, Josh Clark and Kelvin King. According to a poll, if the republican primary election for U.S. senate were held today, nearly 70% of voters would circle Herschel Walker on their ballot.

I'm happy to see that I'm leading, I'm worried about my race and I say whoever wins on the Republican side, I'm going to fight with them,” Walker added.

Endorsing a Georgia governor?

Walker said he’s staying out of that race until after the primary election.

He adds that right now, he’s solely focused on winning, but looks forward to bringing the party together after May.

The primary election will be held on May 24, with the general election to follow in November.
