Commissioner Echols attends green energy roadshow in Savannah
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTGS) — Public Service Commissioner Tim Echols stopped by the 11th annual Georgia Clean Energy Roadshow at Georgia Tech’s campus in Savannah on Thursday.
The event showcased the latest in green energy vehicle technology including an all-electric school bus, a natural gas-powered refuse hauler, and other gas and propane-powered vehicles.
Echols said representatives from local school districts have expressed interest in upgrading to the electric school busses. While the electric busses are more expensive, he said the operating costs are less, and some of the models put energy back into the grid.

Echols said Ford's new F150 Lightning truck might be the most exciting innovation on the lot.
“Having seen my republican colleagues across the street kind of push back against electric cars, the truck is what’s going to bring them over," he said. "Not to mention that the battery for the F150 Lightning is being made at the SK Innovations Plant up in Jackson County.”
Echols said he expects Governor Kemp to push for electric vehicles soon. Ford is investing 11 billion dollars into the new line of electric trucks, and he hopes Georgia starts investing more in electric vehicle production and incentives.
