23-year-old arrested after reports of naked man chasing children in Statesboro playground
Statesboro, Ga. (FOX28) — A 23-year-old Statesboro man is facing a number of charges after police say he was found naked in a playground.
Jarred Shane Woodruff is charged with:
- 4 countsAttempted Aggravated Assault with Intent to Rape a Child
- 4 countsAttempted Child Molestation
- 4 countsAttempted Cruelty to Children in the First Degree
- 4 countsAttempted Kidnapping
- 1 countPublic Indecency - Felony
The charges against him come after, according to the Statesboro Police Department, a naked man was reported chasing children in a playground off Fair Road Park.
When officers arrived at the scene Thursday night just before 8, they found Woodruff sitting on the ground, completely naked.
The father of the children impacted had to "physically subdue and detain Woodruff, pending police arrival, before he was able to physically harm any of the children on the playground," police say.
Woodruff was arrested without incident and taken to the Bulloch County Jail to await further court action.
The incident is still under investigation.
